Genki To-Go Food Truck Opening

Genki Noodles and Sushi’s “Genki-To-Go” food truck is set to make its official debut on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in Howell Mill’s food truck park, located at 1850 Howell Mill Road NW. Kicking off at 4 p.m., the food-fueled afternoon will be filled with Genki’s renowned Japanese cuisine and on-site activities for attendees. This also benefits the MS Society.

"Good Eatin' Great Cause" event on August 22 at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

SafePath Children’s Advocacy Center, an organization in Cobb County that provides important services for children who are the victims of abuse, is hosting the third annual "Good Eatin' Great Cause" event on August 22 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. Funds go to support this excellent organization, and attendees get an evening of delectable samples from well-known chefs of Atlanta from restaurants such Muss & Turners, Social Vinings, and Alon’s. Guests will also get to witness an entertaining cooking competition hosted by local chef Alex Reethof, and judged by other local top chefs, including Carvel Grant Gould of Canoe. Details of the event are at http://safepath.org/events/goodeatingreatcause

Hottie Hawgs BBQ was on “Catering Wars”

The show features Atlanta BBQ Festival Champion and owner of Hottie Hawgs BBQ, “Boss Hawg” aka Kyle Vaughn. Hottie Hawgs BBQ, an iconic gathering place and sports bar opened on July 4^th 2010 and has been racking up awards ever since. The other competitors are Ocean Catering, Atlanta’s Finest, & Pat’s Party Perfect. The first three episodes are titled “Bones, Balls & Drag Queens,” “Naked Sushi & the Snooty Wedding Planner,” and “The Circus & the Civil War.”

Dan and I took his beautiful mother, Marion, and our new baby, Victor, to Five Guys for lunch when Marion visited us last week. This is what we found at Five Guys…

What did you order? How was your food?

Five Guys has complimentary bulk peanuts that you can snack on while you wait (a very short wait) for your number to be called. Their menu is very simple – a strength! We all had burgers with various toppings. The Kennesaw location has the Freestyle coke machine, too. Dan tried ORANGE Coke and didn't like it, but cherry coke is always a favorite in our house.

I like mine “All the Way.” Five Guys’ menu is so simple, I can put it up here. We all loved the burgers and thought that it was great that they specialize so that they can make the best burgers and fries possible. The fries are done “Montreal-style” and are especially delicious with malt vinegar on them. See - very simple!

Describe your impressions of the service. Was anything exceptionally good (or bad) about the quality of service you received?

Great service – order your food at the counter, always friendly service, and a courteous person will bring it out to you or give it to you when they call your number. Often employees will ask how you are doing and make polite conversation.

What do you think of the décor and atmosphere?

Simple and sweet – red and white checked with tiles and bags of potatoes.

Do you consider this a good value for the money you spent? If no, why not?

Yes, they are comparable to fast food but a million times better.

This restaurant is best for...

Very casual dinner, good food, hanging out with friends and family. Awesomest burgers in Atlanta!

We headed over to Firehouse Subs where they have an amazing number of drink options. Check out the menus! We loved the Cherry and Raspberry Coca-Cola options, and the Cherry Limeade! There are over 70 options for diet drink preferences, too. Once you go Freestyle, I don’t think you would ever go back.
